Legislation (Components)

This is a question that is asked a lot by students.  "What is meant my components of legislation".

Components of statute law may include:

  • principal legislation, such as Acts
  • subordinate legislation, such as:
  • approvals
  • determinations
  • mandatory and non-mandatory administrative guidelines
  • orders
  • regulations

So when it comes to reviewing and identifying components of a specific piece of legislation you would list the names of the Principal Act, the names of subordinate legislation, the names of regulations all which apply to this legislation.

This topic is also covered in Beginners Guide to Legislation (Video Tutorial) as well as in your student learner guide relevant to this topic.
